Have you ever reflected on your immediate lineage and made the connection to your life? I recall sitting in a reflective consulation session and I thought about some of the men in my family. My father is a retired educator. My father believed everyone deserved a chance for a better outcome in life. He was an assistant scout master for an all-black Boy Scout Troop (#660), he helped coached my baseball teams, he led a group for "at-risk" students, and he even taught at the alternative school before he retired. My father is a very intelligent man and I know he probably could have taught Honors and AP level courses, but something tells me that he knew his assignment.
My grandfather was a scout leader too! He died in the line of duty as the first black detective for the York County (SC) saving the life of an expecting mother. My grandfather on my mother's side also served the community in various capacities. After listening to stories about both of my grandfathers, I feel like they were both the mayors of their own communities. Although I may not have all of the details of their lives, I learned the men in my family take pride in serving others and so do I.
One of the reasons why JustSingle Vision exists today is for the purpose of carrying out my lineage destined purpose; service to humanity. I want to help organizations see their vision come to life. Everyone has an important role with ensuring our ecosystem thrives to support the next generation. The men in my family reminded us through their actions that service is important in this lifetime. Providing top-tier service to those who are trying to make their community a better place is what I want to do, and it is a requirement. I have to carry the mantle of the Singleton and Fowler men. JustSingle Vision is the way!
